TI nspire 는 TI Chip 을 사용하지 않는다?

TI 라는 회사의 공식 명칭은 Texax Instruments 로 유서깊은 반도체 회사입니다. 

그래서 TI nspire 라는 공학용 계산기를 만들어 파는 것도 크게 이상하진 않죠.

이상한 것은 TI 라는 회사에서는 반도체를 만들어 파는게 주 업종이고, 

TI nspire 에서 사용하는 메인 프로세서인 arm 기반 칩들도 매우매우매우매우 다양하게 만들어 판매하고 있는데

왜

TI 만드는 공학용 계산기인 TI nspire 에는 TI 에서 만든 arm 칩셋 대신 

broadcom 이나 Toshiba 에서 만든 arm 칩셋을 사용한 것일까요?

Texas Instruments developed their own proprietary System-On-Chip from the ARM9 32-bit processors.

The first generation of the TI-Nspire is based on LSI Corporation's (now Broadcom Inc.) "Zevio" design

while the CX and CX II generation is built with Toshiba's Application-Specific Integrated Circuit design.

아무리 생각해 봐도 기술적인 문제 때문은 아닐 듯 하고, 

단지 돈(단가) 문제 때문일 것 같은데... 희한하네요.
